Six reasons people switch
Real reasons, not marketing fluff.
1. Real human experts, not AI
Flo Premium gives you an AI assistant. Femora gives you a certified health expert you can text in-app - async or real-time. When you ask 'is this cramp pattern normal?', a human answers with the nuance no chatbot can match. No appointment, no $200 telehealth bill.
2. 70% cheaper
Flo Premium is $9.99/mo ($59.99/yr). Femora is $2.99/mo ($29.99/yr). Same core feature set, plus expert chat. Same 7-day free trial.
3. All life stages, one app
Flo handles pregnancy, but postpartum and menopause are thin or sit behind separate apps. Femora was built so you don't lose your cycle history when you get pregnant, deliver, or hit perimenopause. One timeline, one subscription.
4. Privacy you can verify
Flo settled with the FTC in 2021 for sharing user period data with Facebook, Google, and AppsFlyer. They've cleaned up since, but the trust gap is real - especially post-Dobbs. Femora was built with encryption at rest from day one (AES-256-GCM), zero third-party ad SDKs in the app, and a one-tap full account deletion that wipes your data and cancels your subscription.
5. No horoscope, no fluff
If you've ever rolled your eyes at a 'your period vibes today' notification, you know what we mean. Femora's tips are expert-vetted and tied to your actual phase and logged symptoms - not your zodiac sign.
6. Built by an indie team that ships
Femora isn't a 200-person VC-funded growth machine. It's a small team focused on the product, not the metrics dashboard. Faster fixes, real responses to support emails, and a roadmap shaped by users - not by ad targeting CPMs.
When you should stick with Flo
We'd rather you stay with Flo than churn from Femora a month in. Stick with Flo if:
- •You've already paid for Flo Premium and you're happy with the AI assistant
- •You're mid-cycle on a TTC plan and don't want to migrate your history right now
- •You strongly prefer a large company with 24/7 support over an indie team
- •You've never had a privacy concern about Flo and the FTC settlement doesn't bother you
Built by Dr. Sapna Jadhav, women's health physician
Femora was founded by Dr. Sapna Jadhav - a practicing women's health physician based in Dubai - and a small engineering team. The "real expert chat" isn't marketing copy; it's the foundation of the product. Every clinical guideline, phase tip, and symptom response is shaped by an actual doctor who's spent her career in women's reproductive health.

Frequently asked
Is Femora better than Flo?
Better is subjective. Femora is cheaper ($2.99 vs $9.99/mo), has real human expert chat (Flo doesn't), and was built privacy-first. Flo is the market leader with 50M+ users, a polished AI assistant, and years of refinement. If you trust Flo and pay $10/mo without thinking, no reason to switch. If you're frustrated with the price, the data scandal, or the lack of human support - Femora is built for you.
Did Flo really sell my period data?
In 2021, the FTC formally complained that Flo shared user health data (including pregnancy intent) with Facebook, Google, and AppsFlyer despite their privacy policy saying they wouldn't. Flo settled in January 2021. They've made changes since, but the record is public. If that bothers you, it's a legitimate reason to switch.
Will I lose my period history if I switch from Flo to Femora?
If you have CSV export from Flo (Settings → Data export), you can manually re-enter past periods in Femora's onboarding flow - only the start dates matter for predictions. We're working on a Flo CSV import feature for a future release. For now, the migration is a 5-minute manual job.
Is Femora free?
Femora has a 7-day free trial (credit card required, cancel anytime). After the trial, it's $2.99/mo or $29.99/yr. We're paid-only by design - it's how we keep your data private without selling it.
Is Femora FDA-approved for contraception?
No. If you want FDA-cleared birth control via cycle tracking, use Natural Cycles. Femora provides pill-pack reminders and cycle awareness but is not a medical device.
Can I use Femora on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Native iOS and Android apps. One subscription covers both - switch devices anytime.
